At the beginning they only spoke German, but now the colonies share more languages. Since it is set in Brazil, Portuguese is the predominant language between them, and the one used to communicate with non-colonial people. Inside the colony they also speak Brazilian-German, a mostly german language that is heavily influenced by Portuguese words and accents.
